What is Company Registered Address ?
The registered office address of a company is that to which CRO correspondence and all formal legal notices addressed to the company will be sent.
A letter addressed to the company at its registered office address must be capable of being delivered by An Post. Any document left at or sent by post to the place recorded at the CRO as the situation of the registered office of a company is deemed by law to have been left at or sent by post to the registered office of the company.
What address can be used by a company?
The registered office address can be anywhere in Ireland. It can be a commercial or residential building, office, apartment.
The address must be a physical location, not just a post office box number, because, if required, people have the right to visit the company's registered office to inspect certain registers and documents and to deliver documents by hand.
How to register an address with CRO?
The original registered office is entered on the form A1 submitted to CRO in order to incorporate the company.
The registered office can be changed at any point in time by submitting Form B2 - Notice of Change in the situation of the Registered Office of a Company to CRO.
How to register an address with Revenue?
The registered office address is registered with the Revenue commissioners as part of the tax registration of the company in ROS - Revenue Online System.
If a company is obliged to register for VAT, in addition to the registered address, Revenue will require information on the place where the business is actually carried on. This address will remain strictly confidential and is never made public by Revenue.
Companies are allowed to use the director's home address for VAT registration if this is suitable for the type of business carried on by the company, i.e. company business can be carried on from a residential address.
Can I keep the Company address private?
The Company Registration Office keeps a record of every company registered in Ireland. The CRO records including company registered address are public and can be accessed by any interested party using the Company Search Facility.
To keep your own address private, you can use the Registered Office Address service. As part of this service, it is possible to have the registered office placed in the care of an authorised Registered Office Agent (ROA), registered as such with CRO.
